educational standards.

Pain Point/Need:-

  • Online Collaborative System
  • Digital Content Creation

Platform:- Web

Usability:- Gooru is a very good and engaging platform that teachers can use to create digital content for their students. Also the system can be used for open learning by any individual user, irrespective of him/her being a student, teacher or a parent. The system offers a great way to collect and manage resources, specifically for educational purposes and all content can be shared anywhere, with anyone easily. With upcoming features to help teachers manage teaching and help students to study under their teachers’ best guidance, the platform can be used to create a digital study environment.

Walk-Through:- Gooru focuses on 4 simple things – Discover(searching for content), Organize(creating a library of the content and editing the content library, delivering the content and tracking the progress, Teach(Teach the students targeting what they need) and Study(Personal learning environment). The Teach and Study features are under development.

It offers a whole bunch of resources for grades 5th through 12th. The content mainly follows Common Core Standards for Mathematics and California Science Curriculum Standards while more is being worked upon. Additionally, it supports addition and management of resources for K – 12 and Higher Education.

It also filters results to help get the appropriate content. The use of result filter, based on the type of results and according to the state standard makes the experience even better.

Anything that is searched for in the search bar, corresponding results for the same are shown in a tile based format with a quick description. A user can simply click and drag any item to the right column of the page where the system creates a collection of resources. Additionally the user gets filtering options in the left panel that features filtration based on the Type of information(Video, webinar, etc.), Source of the information(eg: NASA, IAEA, UN), Standard (USCCM.5.NF.1) Subject (Math, Science, etc.) and Grade Level (High School or Middle School.) The results are shown as individual resources, but the users can switch to the collection mode which pulls out already existent collections of resources created by others, with each result having a share button generating a shareable link. Also there is a details button that shows how many people liked a particular resource/collection, how many collections use the particular resource, grade level, and more.
