Motrix, a Brazil-based educational technology company specializing in developing innovative solutions for designing blended learning experiences based on evidence and curriculum intelligence, has received a contribution of $2.9 million from Grupo Ágathos. The funding consists of $1.8 million as direct financial support and $1.1 million as non-financial contributions.

The startup plans to utilize the funds to expand its development team and create a pilot project for public elementary schools in Brazil, offering a platform with customizable content for teachers to provide personalized education and real-time monitoring of learning performance.

Founded in 2021, Motrix Techknowledge supports the new hybrid reality of K12 schools by developing a social learning solution that fosters an evidence-based approach to learning. Headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the startup aims for schools to be the protagonists of their teaching and learning processes, being able to adapt the pedagogical solutions to the reality of their students, always relying on evaluation solutions that equip the teacher to be able to act in a precise, practical and efficient.

Commenting on the fundraising, Chief Executive Officer of Motrix, Ricardo Schneider, said:

The investment brings together a company with experience in education and an innovative startup, intending to develop tools and materials aligned with the needs of Brazilian schools. The intention is to train teachers to offer the best-personalized education to students, overcoming the limitations of textbooks and allowing greater flexibility in content.

Motrix has also developed a tool for curriculum design, which turns into software, enabling the integration of pedagogical solutions: pedagogical interoperability as a service. Its agnostic curricular framework creates a common language between the various learning solutions.

Motrix’s Director of Learning, Patricia Ferreira, added:

Today, schools receive teaching materials with well-defined themes and activities without considering the particularities of each institution and its students. With this contribution, Motrix gains speed in constructing the platform to guarantee flexible content delivery to the reality of each educational institution and its students. In this way, it will be possible to monitor learning performance in real-time and include developing other skills such as active methodologies, projects, interdisciplinarity and much more.

CEO of Grupo Ágathos Educacional, Maria Fernanda Tabacow, commented:

Our purpose in doing business with Motrix was very much based on the DNA of the three founders of the Ágathos Group, who always wanted to do things for education and education. Being successful from a professional and financial point of view has always been a consequence. They never looked at education without thinking of a way to contribute positively. And that’s the legacy we want to carry forward with Motrix. To contribute in a relevant, assertive manner that changes the education game in our country to take Brazil out of the chapter in which it is trapped in the 17th century, with the first industrial revolution, and we are now in the fourth. Believing that this will be positive through this project is what encourages us.

The Ágathos Group was founded in 1973, originating from the partnership between the partners’ Oscar Vieira, Samuel Tabacow and Luiz Castanho, who are passionate about education. The company is already one of the country’s main maintainers of educational institutions, with 11 educational institutions, including a university, in its portfolio.

Motrix expects to finalize its platform by 2024 and make it publicly available in 2025.
