India’s leading EdTech platform providing students with an affordable and comprehensive learning experience, Physics Wallah, has introduced 50 offline centres under the “Vidyapeeth Centres” brand with an investment of about Rs 82 crore. A senior company official announced that the company aims to distribute scholarships worth Rs 160 crore (USD $20 million) in the next academic year.

According to the company, Vidyapeeth is a tech-integrated offline classroom comprising 650 smart classrooms across 50 centres. It enables PW to reach out to a more extensive student base and provide them with the best learning experience for their upcoming JEE/NEET exams. It plans to recruit over 1200 top faculty members across India, and they will be provided robust training for standardized content delivery and better results. The EdTech giant is already running 11 Vidyapeeth centres in various cities nationwide.

PW has opened its new Vidyapeeth centres in the states of Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

Speaking about the newly launched initiative, the Founder of Physics Wallah, Alakh Pandey, said:

Our primary objective is to provide quality education for all students across India. Through Vidyapeeth, top-quality education is made accessible in remote parts of the country by enabling them to study in their cities. We aim to help parents save money that would have been spent on hostel fees and other living expenses – typically twice the amount of academic fees. Regarding academics, we will also conduct extra classes and regular tests for students while providing them with a test analytics dashboard to help them prepare well for competitive exams.

As a part of the development, the Vidyapeeth centres will offer students regular daily practice problems (DPPs), video quizzes, and homework monitoring, which can be accessed on the parent-student dashboard. In addition, all lectures will be uploaded on the PW app after every class, making it convenient for students to access them anytime, anywhere.

With in-house tech Innovation, PW is at the forefront of its teaching approach with the introduction of 3-D modelling. This will provide students with a practical, real-time experience of their studies, enhancing their understanding of the subject matter. Furthermore, PW has Saarthi, which provides students with personal coaches who are available for 15 hours to help them with any doubts or questions, create personalized study plans, revise coursework, and even conduct parent-teacher meetings.

Co-founder of Physics Wallah, Prateek Maheshwari, added:

Vidyapeeth is a revolutionary initiative in the EdTech sector. We have invested 10 million USD in tech innovation to help students achieve their goals. Vidyapeeth centres will offer support for more than 15 hours a day, and students will also have the provision to escalate any issue to our head office via the PW app. Vidyapeeth is a tech-integrated offline classroom offering cost-effective, in-depth training, well-researched course material, and India’s best faculty.

In a statement, PW said that it provided scholarships worth USD 12 million (about Rs 98 crore) through PW Scholarship and Admission Test (SAT) in the 2023-24 academic year to deserving students and those who cannot afford quality offline education. The startup has crossed over 90,000 registration in the current academic year and aims to reach 1.5 lakhs during the session for JEE, NEET, and foundation exams preparations.

The brainchild of Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari, Physics Wallah, started its journey in 2016 as a YouTube channel to coach JEE and NEET aspirants. The platform now offers online courses and offline and hybrid coaching through its Vidyapeeth and Pathshalas across India. In June 2022, the company became India’s 101st unicorn after raising $100 million in its first round of funding from WestBridge Capital and GSV Ventures at a valuation of $1.1 billion.
