Tomorrow’s Education, a Berlin-based remote-first challenger university, has raised €3.4 million in a funding round led by Mediahuis Ventures.

The round was also joined by other investors, including European Education Fund Emerge Education and angel investors Verena Pausder, Celine Flores Willers, and Kai Roemmelt.

With the fresh capital, the startup plans to fuel the development of future innovators and leaders, enabling people from anywhere in the world to make a sustainable impact while learning the most in-demand skills needed in the 21-st century.

Co-founded by serial entrepreneur Christian Rebernik and Academic Dr. Thomas Funke in 2020, Tomorrow’s Education has created a mobile-first, personalised challenge-based learning system that enables people from anywhere in the world to gain a Professional Master’s degree in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Technology which is double-accredited in Europe and the US.

Tomorrow’s Education is on a mission to help learners build the skills they need to create a more sustainable future.

Speaking about the company, Co-founder of Tomorrow’s Education, Christian Rebernik, said,

“We have developed a cutting-edge learning platform that offers a revolutionary approach to education. We believe in learning by doing rather than simply taking offline learning to an online platform. Our short, bite-sized 7 to15 minute long lessons are designed for students to learn while simultaneously making an impact in their personal ventures and careers. The challenge-based, remote-first learning method ensures that our students gain practical knowledge and real-world experience throughout their studies.”

The Company’s aim is to harness the power of online education to accelerate the transition to a sustainable society by educating and empowering the change-makers of tomorrow. The seed-stage startup was founded with the belief that an entrepreneurial mindset will allow leaders to create the technological solutions needed for a more sustainable future.

Cédric Cops, Investment Lead, Mediahuis Ventures, added:

“The EdTech market not only offers attractive prospects and opportunities for growth, it also fits in with Mediahuis’ mission which is to provide independent news and information, thereby making a positive contribution to people and society. For this reason we support high-growth, cutting-edge startups that are leveraging emerging technologies to re-imagine the way people learn and work. Tomorrow’s Education is a very promising player, engaging students in a new kind of metaverse learning experience. We believe in its revolutionary approach to education and see potential for continued growth.”

Tomorrow’s Education has partnered with the Vienna-based WU Executive Academy since 2021, whose Executive MBA program is ranked 34 among business schools globally.

The startup is currently under the process of receiving its own accreditation and also plans to offer three Bachelor’s Degree programs: B.A. in Responsible Entrepreneurship, B.A.in Sustainable Product Management and a B.Sc in Artificial Intelligence & Sustainable Technologies in the near future.

Last year in January, Tomorrow’s Education had raised €1.1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Emerge Education, one of the most active European investors in education.
