The Bengaluru-based startup secured the funds from Prime Venture Partners, BEENEXT, and LivSpace founder Ramakant Sharma, among other angel investors.

Founded in 2015 by Ashwini Purohit and Saurabh Vyas, Winuall provides technology infrastructure to offline tutors and coaching institutes on a subscription model to bring them online, enabling them to offer study material, conduct assessment, live classes, recorded video library, and their own e-commerce store. With its technology infrastructure, the startup also enables tutors and institutes to schedule classes, take attendance, manage batches, collect fees, manage events, and more.

Winuall believes that real change in education will come only if teacher-led learning starts using technology and AI. It aims to empower all the tutors and coaching institutes with the right set of technology and tools to improve education at large. The company claims it already has onboarded more than 3,700 coaching institutions, and has over 5,000 tutors on its platforms.

Sharing about the company and its aims, Ashwini Purohit, Co-founder and CEO, Winuall, said in a statement,

“Our aim is to enable tutors in India to go digital and improve the quality of learning for students. We want to empower the tutors and coaching institutes to remain independent by building and retaining their own brand name through our platform.”

The company plans to utilize the funds to hire across technology, product, AI and business development functions. It also plans to build and democratize technology infrastructure for small and medium institutes, and help them digitize their offerings.

Commenting on the investment, Shripati Acharya, Managing Partner at Prime Venture Partners, said,

“The tutoring market is at a significant inflection point, and there are a lot of tutors who want to manage their own student interactions and develop an independent identity. Winuall is facilitating this by helping tutors and coaching institutes go digital, and providing them with content and performance recommendations using AI. Winuall is backed by an outstanding team with passionate founders who have a deep understanding of the tutoring and education space.”

The investment comes amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused a massive surge in using the edtech platforms. Winuall said it has seen a massive increase in the adoption of online live classes and over 50 million minutes of learning has been delivered since the lockdown.

Teruhide Sato, Founder and Managing Partner, BEENEXT, also commented saying,

“We are excited to back a passionate team like Winuall, who are looking to transform the educational system in the country. There is tremendous opportunity in the online tutoring market and we look forward to being a part of Winuall’s journey to digitally empower educators.”

Winuall is planning to sign up 20,000 coaching institutes on its platform and serve more than three million students by the end of 2021.
