According to a press statement, the step has been taken to further strengthen ConveGenius’ EdTech for Naya Bharat campaign, which was launched recently, that aims to empower 100 million students at the bottom of the education funnel. It said the acquisition will help ConveGenius integrate GMI's measurement science with its automated learning capabilities and help under-served students diagnose their remediation requirement for missing skills and knowledge through a tailored set of instructions.

ConveGenius is an edtech social enterprise that has a suite of personalized and adaptive learning solutions. It uses research in the science of learning, AI, and Nudge theory to enhance India's quality of education and bridge learning gaps for the masses. ConveGenius aims to offer superior learning outcomes for K-12, and its products aim to assess the current learning levels and create gamified and personalized learning journeys for every child.

Gray Matters India is an educational assessment and analytics company and currently one of the top two players in K-10 assessments in India. It provides learning intelligence and diagnosis through standardised assessments to make education child-centric. GMI’s vision was to create a common standard of education measurement in India that can be used across geographies, languages and school types. The company has data points from 6 million children across 15 states in the country.

Commenting on the latest development, Jairaj Bhattacharya, Co-founder of ConveGenius, said in a statement,

“We are excited to integrate GMI's instrumental work within ConveGenius, their products will be tightly integrated to improving our tech-stack for NayaBharat, The Affordable private schools, budget schools and government schools will need to adapt with rapid shifts in the space and we are working towards creating an intelligent and seamless product stack to organise this segment.”

By leveraging GMI's platform, ConveGenius will be able to visualize an underlying super taxonomy of foundational and cognitive learning skills and will create an interoperable architecture for learning according to the NEP 2020, where digital data from multiple education and learning organizations can be transferred, compared, and analysed, according to the company’s statement.

Speaking about the company, Pradeep Sharma, Founder, Gray Matters India, said,

“When we started Gray Matters India, we envisioned assessment as a tool that would help students realise their full learning potential. We experimented boldly and innovated in designing assessments and measurement models for the Indian context. This partnership with ConveGenius, would further this vision by making assessments personalised in a scalable manner.”

Sowmya Velayudham, CEO, Gray Matters India, also commented on the partnership saying,

"We have built a robust assessment system and models for accurate measurement of learning outcomes in children. Such a universal indicator of education quality is critical for the government systems, private schools, impact investing and the new-age ed-tech players.  By integrating into a cutting edge, tech based content provider like CG, we will be able to unleash the full power of data, assessments and measurement to transform the education system."

As part of the insights team, GMI will help ConveGenius enhance students' learning levels with reliable and transparent communication infrastructure. It will boost ConveGenius's mission of transforming the learning outcomes by providing affordable technology to the bottom 100 million students falling in the K-12 category, including AI-based learning, and high-stake assessments and evaluations spanning across various platforms.
