Promising meaning, showing signs of future success.

“The tech landscape is primed for promising technical candidates to drive digitisation movements.”

While each organisation has a unique definition for the word ‘promising’, the word takes on a different connotation with regards to Industry 4.0, where digitisation drives are the need of the hour. In today’s professional world, ‘promising’ is synonymous with readiness. And, if you are someone who is showing signs of future success, there is a good chance that you are getting ready for the future.

Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things and Big Data Science has become catalysts of the digitisation movement. It has led to a skill-void of sorts, creating a high demand for skilled professionals across these technologies.

But the good news is that beyond the skill-void lies the promised land of opportunities.

How large is the skill-void though? Let us have a look at some facts.

  • As per a NASSCOM report, India has about four million jobs, out of which close to 60-65% of employees will have to upskill themselves within the next five years to stay relevant with automation and changing industry demands
  • A Capgemini study revealed that 55% of organisations acknowledged that not only was there a massive gap for STEM skills, but it is widening rapidly
  • Gartner estimates that by 2020, 30% of tech jobs will be unfulfilled due to the unavailability of skilled talent across the digital landscape
  • There will be a shortage of 1.4 million software developers in the USA by 2020

However, and this is a big ‘however’, there is a silver lining to the gloomy factual cloud present above. There will be plenty of opportunities, and if individuals put in the work required to capture them, it can be all theirs. Take for example, how there was a global demand for 181,000 experts with analytical skills in 2018 alone, or that there will be a demand for three million cybersecurity professionals across the next three years.

Moreover, the opportunities are not restricted to the IT industry alone, as there is an incredible demand for talent in the telecom, IT, manufacturing, automotive, healthcare, infrastructure and others. The telecom sector is expected to create 10 million jobs in the next five years, with significant demand for employment coming from machine to machine communication, as well as telecom manufacturing and infrastructure.

Coming to the million-dollar question, how does one find a suitable career path in the digitisation movement?

UPSKILLING! Both graduates and working professionals will have to augment their existing technical skills to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving professional sphere. Industry 4.0 requires professionals to stay alert to the changing winds of digitisation, and continuously learn and be prepared for the jobs of the future. The market is ripe, and it awaits the brave, the willing and the curious.

Taking advantage of networking platforms that connect an individual with educational institutes and recruiters, one can identify skills they would like to develop and improve their chances of better employability.

Institutions, on the other hand, will need to build training modules based on international occupational standards and around products and services in the industry. Training based on job demand and industry trends will change the way of employment services.

BLOCKCHAIN TO REVOLUTIONISE THE EDUCATION SYSTEM

  • Going beyond its current applications, blockchain could make a big difference in the education sector, and extend into corporates.
  • The decentralised characteristic of blockchain allows data and related transactions to be preserved across a network, enhancing security.
  • Addressing the challenges in record verification and carrying physical, academic records between institutions and employers.
  • From course management to issuing next-gen digital certificates, blockchain is redefining traditional methods with real-world applications.

Using blockchain technology, Certif-ID is facilitating educational institutions and employers to share and verify an individual’s digital credentials or transcripts with a single click. On the Certif-ID platform, institutes can issue blockchain-powered certificates directly into an individual’s profile or Certificate Wallet. So, there is no room for manipulation between the point of the certificate being issued and it being visible to recruiters.

DIGITAL CERTIFICATES: MAKING VERIFICATION EASY

Adopting emerging technologies such as blockchain will help not just help educational institutions to optimise their processes and issue digital certificates but also companies to do the same while training their employees. Moreover, the blockchain-powered digital certificates are easier to share, and recruiters can verify them with just one click, presenting authenticity for skills possessed.

All in all, it must be said that the future for professionals across the globe looks bright. Being proactive is the key to success because…Newton’s first law is truly applicable to Industry 4.0.

Finally, here is a quote from Peter Drucker that will certainly help individuals stay vigilant in these times: “The only skill that will be important in the 21st century is the skill of learning new skills. Everything else will be rendered obsolete over time.”
