Still, it’s an innovation that can definitely drive the educational system forward. Since it’s not an imposed standard, it’s up to educators to implement it in the best way possible.

The dynamic nature of AI technology offers tons of opportunities for engaging students at all academic levels. Since it’s student engagement the issue that most teachers are most struggling with, it’s certainly important for us to consider AI as a potential solution.

How AI Can Enhance the Effectiveness of the Educational Process

Artificial intelligence has one major advantage: it fights the one-size-fits-all approach towards education. Traditional education was based on textbooks and curriculums that forced students to learn at the same pace. With the help of AI technology, we can personalize the process of teaching to a great extent.

Machine Learning algorithms are very complex. Fortunately, you don’t have to learn how to develop them. All you need to know is that these programs learn from the user’s behavior by collecting data. You can analyze that data in order to find gaps in your students’ knowledge and adjust your teaching method in a way that helps them fill in the gaps and move towards progress.

Casey Yin, educational expert from Australia, sheds some light over the benefits of implementing AI in educational processes: “In my opinion, the greatest benefit of artificial intelligence is the ability to create personalized textbooks and learning exercises. Each and every student has specific needs. As we see how this technology is being enhanced day by day, the dream of fully personalized education is not far from being realized. The systems will be able to find new patterns for a student’s learning journey once the educator imports relevant data.”

All this talk seems abstract without practical examples, doesn’t it? The real matter of the day is: how can you really implement AI in the way you teach without waiting for the future? Let’s go through some examples!

How to Integrate AI in the Teaching Process

1. Let Your Students Ask Questions and Get Answers through Brainly

Brainly is a great tool for implementing AI in the educational process. It uses machine learning algorithms to provide spam-free answers to students’ individual questions. It works like this: the student asks a question, and Brainly provides verified answers from fellow students. In addition, the students can collaborate with each other, so they will come up with proper answers on their own.

The tool supports various subjects, including physics, history, math, SAT, health, arts, business, computers and technology, languages, and more.

2. Design a Digital Curriculum

Traditional textbooks are way too boring for today’s students. We’re certainly seeing some progress in the development of multi-dimensional textbooks, but we’re still far from creating content that could really engage the students. That’s because the textbooks are being created according to the one-size-fits-all principle. Your classroom is different from all other classrooms, so it’s about time for you to start using AI to create a personalized curriculum.

You can do that by using a tool like Netex Learning. It allows you to design an engaging digital curriculum by implementing rich media. In addition to audio and video, you can also infuse gamification, microlearning, spaced learning, social learning, and personalized in the entire process.

Netex Learning provides you with useful analytics, so you can monitor the results of your teaching process and make changes to the curriculum when necessary.

3. Use Siri to Encourage Your Students to Ask Questions

You just finish presenting a lesson. You conclude with the good-old question: Does anyone have any questions? You wait and you hope for the students to ask something, so you can spark a discussion. But no one has the courage to step up.

That’s a scenario all educators are familiar with.

Today’s students are comfortable with technology, and they are certainly okay with using Siri. Whenever you want to inspire questions, tell them to ask Siri. If, for example, you just gave them a geography lesson about India, they can ask Siri about popular desserts from that country. Then, the tool will give them various resources to explore.

Keep Up!

As the needs of new generations of students keep changing and educational technology keeps evolving, it’s not easy for educators to keep up. The goal of implementing artificial intelligence into the learning process requires a lot of work on your part.

In the Special Issue on Intelligent Learning Technologies, AI Magazine from 2013, researchers identified the main areas for ongoing research regarding artificial intelligence in education:

  • Learning 21st century skills
  • Mentors for every student
  • Free access to global classrooms
  • Interaction data to support learning
  • Llifelong learning

We’re seeing a lot of progress in all these aspects of artificial intelligence, but the evolution of the educational system is still going strong. As an educator, you have to keep up with the trends and implement AI in the teaching process, in the most effective way possible. Hopefully, the tips above will help with that.
