Science organizes knowledge in the form of explanations, predictions and a lot other different forms to reach those who are willing to understand the deep and interlinked concepts of science.

Teachers need interactive and innovative approach to make sessions engaging and fun for the class. Below is a list of 10 amazing science apps for iOS that can be integrated by teachers for a better experience in teaching science.

1) 3-D Brain

A free app that lets teachers explain the functioning of human brain in the best way. Detailed structure comes with information on functions, disorders, brain damage, case studies and links to modern research. The 3D model is color coded and labeled with the major regions of the brain, and users can discover more about each regions functions, as well as how injury and mental illness can affect the biological structures of the brain. Discover 29 interactive structure of brain with just a touch on your screen. Each structure comes with information on functions, disorders or injuries etc. the app is compatible with iOS 6.0 or later and is a paid app.  

2) Molecules

The app lets you view three-dimensional renderings of molecules and enables you to mould them using your fingers. You can play with molecules using your fingers and these structures can be viewed in both ball-and-stick and space filling visualization modes. Apart from the existing structures, new molecules can be downloaded and saved for later viewing. You can also read information about the different molecules, learning about their discovery, structure and amino acid or nucleotide sequence.  

The app is compatible with iOS devices that support 4.2 or later version of OS.     

3) The Elements: A Visual Exploration

The app is based on the best selling book, The Element by Theodore Gray. The app is rich and engaging dealing in periodic tables taking user to the universe one could not imagine. Starting off with an illustrated periodic table, users can tap on each element to see an object composed of it, such as a crystal, toy or sculpture. The app also reveals vital facts about the element, including how humans have used that substance throughout history. Lavish illustrations, fun facts and the latest information from Wolfram Alpha are combined into a richly interactive app that more than justifies its price.

4)  

Apt for the child aged between 7-11 years suitable for elementary kids of grade 3,4 & 5. The app help the kids to learn science concepts related with plants, animals, human body system & its traits and about recycling.  The app is divided in 10 learning units and 5 practice units just to be sure!

The app is compatible with devices having iOS 4.1 or later and is minimally priced.

5) Kid Science: Chemistry Experiments

 Use this app while assisting your students in their practicals and experiments with the help of this fun app. Read the text and watch the videos and do as it states along with it. Show students the videos beforehand only and make them do the experiment on their own for better understanding. The app requires devices with 3.2.1 or later and is a paid app.    

6)Science Facts Pro

This application gives you unlimited scientific facts to learn and teach your students everyday! The app is nominally priced till the next update. The coming version of the app is bombarded with amazing features like scroll through facts, search, send and share. Compatible with iOS 2.0 or later.   

7) Kid Science

Unleash the inner scientist in your student with kid science. Get access to watch and do photos and videos that make it easy with step-by-step guidance to for real science experiments. Read along the text as you watch the video and check your students’ progress with the fun quiz. The app is for the younger kids and can be used for elementary classes.  Minimally priced and requires iOS 3.2.1 or later.  

8) Anatomy 4D

It is an augmented reality app that gives you a virtual tour of the human body. Print out the image target, lay it out on a flat surface and aim your camera at it. Then the Anatomy 4D will display a 3D computer graphics rendering of the human body and its various organ systems. Users can zoom in and out on the model, change the viewing angle by moving your phone around the target, and selectively view particular systems in the body, such as the skeletal, lymphatic or respiratory system. A newly added feature is support for a human heart target, which displays a 3D model of the human heart.

9) NASA App

Developed by NASA, this app contains over 14,000 images and 10,000 videos of planets, stars, and satellites, along with information about all of NASA’s current missions and activities. User can also read the latest news stories about NASA, whilst live streaming their own TV and radio channels. User can even track the progress of the International Space Station and other Earth orbiting satellites, right from you iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

10) LeafSnap

So the next time you take your botany sessions or maybe while teaching about plants, don’t forget to use this app. This app helps you identify tree species simply by clicking a picture of its leave. Take a picture of the leave over a white background and you are good to go! The app is compatible with devices having 5.1.1 OS or later.
