100 students participated in the app-a-thon from 6 institutions including IGDTUW, IIIT-D, IILM, NIT-D, IIT(BHU) – Varanasi and IIIT- Bhubaneshwar and were trained on how to create mobile apps using I-MADE Platform.

Mr. R.K. Pathak, Director, TCOE, said “ We were pleased to see participation from the first batch of I-MADE institutions. Students were excited to create their first apps at the App-a-Thon and are looking forward to solve industry challenges. I strongly believe the I-MADE program will empower students and see brilliant startups from India.”

Mr. Aashutosh Bhardvaj, CEO, Kryptos Mobile, said “This app-a-thon is a great opportunity for the students to start creating apps using the I-MADE platform. It should enable students to identify problems in and around their campus and build a solution using I-MADE. Apps that achieve promising traction,  would be taken up for one to one mentoring and possible funding opportunities.”

Students created and showcased apps like my profile, news app, web page based apps for their institute and published the changes to Kryptos AppMaker, where they could see their updated app on their mobile phones.

Innovation in Mobile App Development Ecosystem (I-MADE) framework is a 5-year program, under which 11 institutions were selected to be part of Phase I. One hundred (100) institutes will be selected to be a part in Phase II of the program and Phase III will include up to 35,000 institutions. The goal of the program is to help Indian entrepreneurs build 1 million mobile app start-ups which can eventually become Indian unicorns.

Industry players gave the students problem statements including mobile app for challan system and classifieds app for institutions.

Students developing these apps will be suitably incentivized in the form of internship & hiring opportunities with the I-MADE team.

Based on students’ enthusiasm I-MADE will be organizing regional App-a-Thons in association with I-MADE institutions.
