There’s one qualification that we can’t seem to get enough of, and that’s fluency in a foreign language.

Teaching an additional foreign language is a part of most school’s curriculum now, reason being the demand of knowing more than one language.

“If we spoke a different language, We would perceive a somewhat different world.” – Ludwig Wittgenstein

FluentU brings language learning to life through its fully-integrated system that lets you Learn new language the new way. FluentU challenges the traditional way of learning language by providing various ways and activities to enhance language skills. Memorizing becomes even easier when you have experienced it. FluentU is that resource which can deliver such rich experiences with right set of tools by engaging and rewarding the learner throughout the language learning experience.

FluentU brings language learning to life with video immersion, making your skills more efficient and accurate. It turns music, videos, movie trailers, news, and inspiring talks into language learning lessons, and enables students to learn more efficiently with spaced repetition and personalization.

The platform provides you with video content that is fun, timely and ideal for learners. User can watch these foreign videos and grasp information easily. The teachers assign videos to students so they watch and learn from them. Teachers also show FluentU videos in classrooms via projector.

FluentU is available on Web and on iOS7 or later. FluentU app makes learning convenient and enjoyable to learn through engaging content which has easy navigation with multiple sections:

My Course: a sequenced series for users who want more structure.

Now Learning: user can see what content is in progress at present. A spaced repetition algorithm shows words when they are “ready for review.”

Browse: all the content on FluentU can be seen from here. New content is published weekly.

Favorites: content that is marked as favorite by user shows up here.

Downloaded: users can download videos for Offline learning.

It offers user a choice of 6 languages to learn from i.e. Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and English. The app has 6 difficulty levels from newbies to natives. Audio playback for all words and examples helps user to get better understanding of the pronunciations of the words. The app also provides for fluency tracking for both words and videos. Users can add words to their personal vocabulary list. Also, users can sync progress across websites and app to have access at both ends.

The product makes sure to avoid frills and gimmicks so that users can focus on what they actually need. It teaches words in context rather than isolation so that user can memorize easily and add it up to the vocabulary. The product makes sure to provide the best language learning material so that user can learn and utilize maximum out if it.

In addition to videos, FluentU also have some audio dialogues for beginners.

Here’s what some of the users are saying:

‘While many videos come with subtitles, there was never an easy way to look up vocabulary words, or pause the video and make sure you really understood what was being said… that is until now. FluentU understands our pain, and picks up the pieces where all those other sites fall short.’ – Jacob Gill, iLearnMandarian

‘The quiz sections are the most successful I’ve seen to integrate spaced learning of vocab, and not be bored out of your mind. The power of seeing an actor speaks, hearing their pronunciation, and linking it to the Chinese character re-enforces learning. It is challenging and makes you think about how the Chinese language works.’ – Keith Robinson

For you to get another perspective and review, I am sharing what Eurolinguiste quotes:

‘I love that the FluentU app takes native content and makes it accessible to language learners. It can be frustrating to knowingly miss out on great resources for learning a language (like videos on YouTube) when they are too far beyond one’s level. FluentU gives language learners a way to eliminate that boundary. FluentU is an app that I use regularly and it is an app that I will continue to use regularly. Speaking and comprehension are the two language skills that often take the longest to develop and FluentU offers you a way to change that.’
